Stress makes you fat

Great. As a self-confessed stress-head, this is just what I did NOT need. An article from the SMH, that says Aussie, US and Slovakian scientists have discovered chronic stress triggers the body’s fat cells to grow and multiply.

Yikes!

Gah they’re going about it the wrong way:

“While the stress reaction was normal and unavoidable, scientists are working to block the dangerous knock-on fat reaction that it triggers.”

Its good there’s more knowledge about the link to obesity, but people have many many more reasons to avoid being stressed.

It jacks your whole damn nervous system. Stress is recognized in China and the west a leading cause of chronic disease - not to mention anxiety, burnout, depression, and uncontrollable anger.

And the worse thing about stress is it feeds on itself - getting stressed actually leaves your body in worse state to recover, eg because you can’t sleep, so therefore you’re more tired, then you feel you can cope even less, so you start drinking alchohol or taking drugs…
