Classic story in Daily Mail

Oops. I don't feel so bad about my bad typing now. The BBC accidentally interviewed a cabbie about the recent Apple vs Apple court case, thinking he was technology commentator Guy Kewney. The Daily Mail in the UK has the story.

You can also watch the footage of the *mistake*:

Don’t read the West Wing story on the SMH site

Or, if you do, beware that it contains serious spoilers. I'm not linking to it, because I'm mad with them for not pointing that out.

Grrr…

I still love the West Wing. It was the show I was watching when the planes flew into the Twin Towers. It's the show that reminds me that Americans can be inspiring rather than mindless and ignorant.

idle thoughts

actually, not so idle, I'm busy as a bee at the moment, but it's all good.

The big question is should I forsake my ad-free zone for more LJ functionality? It would be handy to be able to post a few more pics here from time to time but I'm undecided. Actually, I haven't allocated a lot of brain power to the question yet. But it strikes me that I may as well go back to Blogger if I'm going to embrace the big bad world of online advertising.

The other option is to pay for an account. This is what I *should* do, but I don't use the service enough to justify it. I'm a bit of an LJ scott;)

On another topic, I sent my mum a bunch of flowers for mothers day as she's up in Qld teaching at decorative painting at the moment. She's been away for mothers day for the last three years so I thought she deserved something special. She love them so I'm really glad I made the effort.

more fishing photos

I'm sitting here watching Big Brother eviction night and posting on LJ at the same time. And I have to say Go Gretel! To have an intelligent, attractive and funny woman on television who can also display incredible empathy when it's most needed is inspiring. I often hear people bag her but I think it takes a pretty special person to do the job she does. Live TV and all that entails, huge egos, having to look fabulous all the time, being able to keep control of the situation. I'm not sure there's anybody else on Australian TV who could do it. I've been watching her talk to Elise and I think she handled the whole thing with the utmost class.

Hehe…now she's taking on Michael. Lovin' it! Mind you, for you, it's a bit like shooting fish in a pond…

…which reminds me that I digress. I'm here because I wanted to talk about the pic below. It's grainy because it was taken on a disposable camera in very low light conditions and rain. It was on film, so we scanned it and lightened it up.

We've been quite successful with our fishing over the past 12 months. See the pics here.

Old man trout

Well, we’re back in Sydney after a glorious week away in one of the most beautiful parts of the world - the Snowy Mountains in Australia.
And the fishing was incredible. We both caught massive fish. Check out the catch of my life - a six pound old man trout!

By far the biggest trout I’ve ever caught, and also the fish of which I’m most proud. He went back into the river - and it was the best feeling to watch him swim away.
In fact, it was a week of big fish as Mike also caught some beauties! He’d not been trout fishing before and his second fish was a whopping 3 pound!
More later.
