The Evolution of Dance

I have to go home. I’m so sore I can hardly walk (note to self, a 5km run, weights session and cycle class in two days only makes you sorer) and my poor brain has turned to mush. I had a brief period of about 15 minutes at 4.30 this arvo when I wrote a cracking four paragraphs of editorial and now I have to convince people that it *does* need to be published and the heavy ironic tone I employed can&’t be misinterpreted. I think I’ll just point them in the direction of the Simpsons:

Oh, yeah, what are you gonna do? Release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?

But for now, I’m spent.

An APP report about how Australia's crap excuse for a prime minister thinks that selling the Snowy is the right thing to do, even tho most Australians oppose the idea. My favourite bit: when he tries to justify it by saying that people thought selling the Commbank and Qantas were also dumb ideas but turned out ok…

He doesn't even realise the irony of that statement!! It would be laughable if it wasn't so scary.

I would like to go on record to say that I have never voted for this man, or his party (and not because I'm loyal to another political ideal or anything). I notice not many people these days are prepared to stand up and say they did vote for him, but a good many must have, because HE'S STILL IN POWER! Aaagh.

11am coffee break at work got us talking about Australia's penchant for Big Things on the side of the road. There has to be website, we said. Sure enough, there is:

http://www.bigthings.com.au/

Fabulous stuff. Can view by name, state and type, but the best bit is the stats page. NSW has the largest number of big things (53) and Australia has approx 19 big things per million km squared.

I’d flown to Brisbane, done four interviews, and flown back to Sydney.
I’m a tad weary!
And I still have a spin class to go. Between you, me and the lampost, I may not get there.

A few years ago, J lent me Neal Stephenson's Snowcrash. At the time I was reading EE Doc Smith's Lenseman series and it took me a couple of weeks to get around to it. Silly, silly me. I still love Snowcrash. And, being the first NS I read, it holds a special place in my heart.

But enuf of all that reminiscing malarky. The thing that was completely mindblowing to me at the time was his illustration of the metaverse concept. And how a virus could completely screw it all up. That's an extremely simplistic synopsis, I know, but bear with me.

Today I hear about this mad trojan that infects your computer, steals your World of Warcraft login, logs in, gets all your virtual credits and steals them. And they can then be converted to moula. OK, so this isn't exactly new - I'm behind the times - but Snowcrash came to mind as soon as I heard about it.

For more on the trojan, go here

As an aside, why does 'Trojan' have a capital T? I can understand it were we talking horses or people from Troy, but we're not. It has become a generic term imo and I'm all for doing away with the cap.

Ack. Went back to pump classes after about 5 weeks. Based on the amount of pain they cause, they must be doing something!
Did two hours at the gym yesterday (insert halo). It's much needed - bought these new scales that measure body fat as well as weight and it's a bit scary. Let's just say at this stage I'd probably do very well in cold climates;)
So I'll be going hard at Pump in a bid to up that lean muscle mass;)

My incredible husband just informed me he has a copy of the first solo album from Jeff Martin!

mmm…drool…drool….

It's titled Exile and the kingdom and it's out June 5. Will listen to tonight and post about it, but I warn you, it won't be terribly objective;)

I don't have much to say today, but thought I'd say something for the sake of cluttering up cyberspace with drivel.

I went back to the gym last night. It has been open for a year now (and I've been a member since day 1) so to celebrate they have this competition where if you attend 8 classes in the month, you go into a draw to win tickets to Cirque de Soleil. I love the Cirq, so I'm entered. Only trouble is because I've been away, I'm going to have to spend some serious time working out!

That's a good thing. I've lost momentum with the gym of late and have put on 1.5kgs. Sigh. So hard to get off, so easy to put on. I blame my lack of self control and chocolate. mmmmmmm…chocolate….
